Application and Fees


To be considered for a space at the retreat, all prospective students must submit 500-1500 words from a work in progress, along with a statement of the work’s purpose, by August 1, 2015, along with a non-refundable $100 application fee. The application fee is non-refundable even in the event that not enough applicants apply, and the retreat does not take place. 

This submission will help Stephen decide if you’ve chosen him correctly as your teacher.

Eight students will be selected based on their work, along with alternates to fill a waiting list, which will be used in the event of a student’s cancellation.

Students will be notified of their acceptance on or before August 15, 2015. At this time, the first class assignment will be given. You will bring this to the first class.

Eight applicants must be eligible in order for the retreat to take place.

Tuition, Lodging and Meals

Dartbrook Writers Retreat is an unprecedented all-inclusive experience that includes tuition for your personalized workshop with instructor Stephen Tobolowsky, luxurious accommmodations at Dartbrook Lodge for five nights, daily breakfast and dinner prepared for you each day.

Cost is $2495.00 per person, due in full by September 1, 2015. If your payment is not received by this date, your spot will be opened to the waiting list applicants. 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation must be in writing by September 15, 2015, at which time 80% of the tuition fee will be refunded. No refunds after this date. No exceptions.
